Job description

Mushens Entertainment is looking to appoint a Foreign Rights Manager in a maternity cover role (full time) for the period of one year, reporting to CEO, Juliet Mushens. The salary is £33,000-£38,000 dependent on experience. The role is split 3 fixed days in our Shoreditch office, and 2 days working from home.

Mushens Entertainment represents a dynamic and bestselling list of fiction and non-fiction including no. 1 Sunday Times bestselling authors such as Richard Osman, Claire Douglas, Jessie Burton, Jennifer Saint and Susan Stokes-Chapman. Our books are published in 47 languages around the world and regularly top the bestseller lists abroad.

Duties and responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
• Managing our literary assistant
• Processing and negotiating translation contracts
• Liaising with our tax forms consultant to ensure the prompt payment of international money
• Sending out submissions internationally and communicating with our co-agents and a range of scouts on backlist and front-list titles
• Updating scouts and co-agents on new sales, bestseller positions and pulling together our monthly rights newsletter
• Overseeing our Frankfurt Book Fair presence including pulling together the rights guide, overseeing the scheduling of meetings, and attending along with two other ME agents
• Liaising with authors to help arrange international publicity

Skills and experience
You will have at least four years’ experience working in rights whether that is as a foreign rights executive/manager at an agency, in-house at a publisher, or as a literary scout. You will have great communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and confidence managing others.
