Job summary

The University of Oxford's Gardens, Libraries and Museums (GLAM) Move Project is recruiting seven Project Assistants to support the final relocation phase of our museum collections. Posts are full-time on a fixed-term basis, across various sites and a central base in Oxford.

You will handle a wide range of museum objects, ensuring packing, transport and storage to professional standards, update databases, maintain location records and perform condition checks.

Qualifications

• Experience in a museum or heritage environment.
• Practical handling, packing and moving museum objects.
• Sound understanding of collections documentation and health & safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Pack and move museum objects to agreed professional standards.
• Update collections databases and maintain location records.
• Perform condition checks on artefacts and respond to any preservation needs.
• Work across multiple sites and coordinate with teams; use handling equipment.
