Lancaster City Council is seeking two Museum Assistants to join their vibrant museums team. The role involves engaging with the public and ensuring a positive visitor experience, along with operational tasks like security and cleaning. Ideal candidates will have customer care experience and local knowledge. The positions are part-time with flexible hours, offering a rewarding opportunity to participate in local culture.

We are looking for someone to join our team to help provide engaging experiences for visitors at our vibrant and busy museums. You will need to be keen to roll up your sleeves, have a strong dedication to delivering exceptional customer care through teamwork, flexibility and hard work in a friendly environment.
Really good local knowledge would be an advantage, as would an interest in local history. You will need to be able to work between our sites and be happy to work alternate weekends.
This can be a physically demanding but rewarding job, which can sometimes mean being on your feet talking to people all day.
We are currently recruiting for two Museum Assistant positions.
Museum Assistant 2: This post is permanent. The hours for this post are 19.68 hours per week, working on a two-week rota, which includes alternate weekends:
Week1: Monday 11:45-16:15, Friday 10:00 -16:15
Week 2: Monday 11:45-16:15, Friday 10:00 -16:15, Saturday 11:45-16:15, Sunday 9:30-16:15
Additional 4-hours of flexible time for additional support.
Museum Asssistant 6: The hours of work for this position are 3.5 per week, working 12.45 – 16.15 at the Cottage Museum until the last Saturday of September. The successful candidate will be able to work as a casual museum assistant to ensure they can continue to provide cover at the City Museums during the Autumn/Winter months.
