Museum and Tourist Information Assistant

Position Type: Part time

Hourly Pay: £13.44

Hours: A normal working day is 6.25h from either 9.45- 4.30pm or 10am- 4.45pm

Location: Bewdley Museum DY12 2AE

The is a temporary vacancy mainly covering Annual Leave and Sickness from July through to Mid-December, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the museum and tourist information centre, providing a warm welcome to all visitors.
  • Offer information and support to tourists regarding local attractions, events, and services.
  • Maintain and organize exhibits, displays, and promotional materials to enhance visitor experience.
  • Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person, ensuring accurate and helpful information is provided.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and execute events, educational programs, and exhibitions.
  • Help with the collection and analysis of visitor feedback to improve services.
  • Support administrative tasks, including maintaining records and managing schedules.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge of local history and tourism.

Qualifications

  • A keen interest in local history, culture, and tourism.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in a museum, tourist information centre, or customer service role is desirable but not essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with digital tools for communication and organization.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.
