Job summary

Salford Royal Hospital is seeking a Multiskilled Technician (Electrical) to join the facilities team. The role is based at Salford Royal Hospital with a split shift pattern totaling 37.5 hours weekly, including Week 1 0700–1500 and Week 2 1000–1800, plus an on-call rota for out-of-hours support.

The successful candidate will maintain electrical systems, install and repair plant equipment, perform PPM tasks, and ensure all health, safety and environmental standards are met.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical apprenticeship and 18th Edition.
• Sound knowledge of risk assessment and working safely with equipment.
• Health & Safety understanding.
• Ability to read technical diagrams and plans (method statements).
• Authorised Person / Competent Person experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to site staff and demonstrate technical expertise in electrical systems.
• Ensure compliant solutions and efficient customer service delivery.
• Work as part of an out-of-hours on-call rota.
• Plan, prioritise and resource maintenance projects.
• Maintain health & safety and environmental compliance.
• Install, maintain and repair plant equipment.
• Diagnose, fault-find, commission systems and monitor facility performance via PPM programmes.
• Administer and complete relevant paperwork promptly.
• Develop relationships with business partners and subcontractors, managing permits.
• Maintain professional appearance and courteous attitude.
• Carry a full driving licence.
• Work under pressure, take ownership of problems and resolve them.
• Report issues to the Technical Services Supervisor/Manager.
• Attend training courses funded by Equans.
• Train to become an Authorised Person/Responsible Person in relevant disciplines.

The Multiskilled Technician (Electrical) will be based at Salford Royal Hospital, working a split pattern of 37.5 hours per week – Week 1 0700–1500, Week 2 1000–1800 – and will play a key role in maintaining technical performance and ensuring compliance with statutory and company procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• Recognised electrical apprenticeship, 18th Edition.
• Experience working on lighting and small power circuits.
• Sound knowledge of risk assessment and working safely with equipment.
• Health & Safety understanding.
• Ability to measure, work to plans (method statements) and read technical diagrams.
• PFI/health‑care experience preferred.
• Experience reviewing detailed schematics.
• Use of a Building Management System (BMS).
• Experience with PPM & reactive work.
• Authorised Person / Competent Person experience.
