Job Title: Multiskilled Shift Engineer

Location: Outskirts of Ashford, Kent (you will need your own transport)

Salary: 42,972.80 + compulsory overtime + OTE 44,987.15

Hours: Monday to Friday - rotating weekly - 5.30am - 2pm (first 30m paid at x1.5) / 2pm - 10pm

To be responsible for the reactive and preventative repair and maintenance of all on site plant and equipment to ensure the safe efficient operation.

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a range of production machinery and equipment including but not limited to; PLCs / Power & Control Circuits / Pneumatics / Mechanical Drives & Conveyor Systems.
  • Work in areas such as Production, Dry & Cold Stores, Cooling Tower and the Production Wastewater Plant.
  • Diagnose faults and perform repairs promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machinery efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborating with contractors to resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Contributing to the development of maintenance procedures and documentation.
  • Develop methods to encourage continual attention to safe working practices.
  • Improve employee awareness of health, safety, and best practice.
  • Strive to increase operational performance.
  • Optimise factory efficiency and maximise equipment up time.
  • Drive costs down wherever possible.
  • Make the best use of available time and resources.
  • Implement preventative maintenance.
  • Provide regular updates to Shift Managers on performance issues.
  • Build relationships with the Shift Managers and Machine Operators.
  • Comply with all policies, procedures and risk assessments.
  • Support the Engineering Manager to proactively deal with any Engineering issues.
  • Provide cover over multiple shift patterns as required.
Experience and skills required for this position:
  • Proven experience as a Multi Skilled Engineer or similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the food or beverage industry.
  • 4-year Engineering Apprenticeship (mechanical/electrical), City and Guilds Engineering Diploma or NVQ level 3 Engineering Maintenance.
  • 17th/18th edition, BS7671 or Electrical Wiring Regulations Qualification.
  • Fault finding experience on PLCs / Power & Control Circuits / Pneumatics / Mechanical Drives and Conveyor Systems.
  • Experience with Production, Wastewater and Cooling Tower Facilities checks and repairs.
  • Computer literate (Word/Excel etc).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A can do attitude.
  • Be able to lead by example.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
