Job summary

Bravissimo is seeking a Multiskilled Sample Machinist to join our sample room, producing accurate lingerie, swimwear and support samples. You will work with pattern techs from concept through grading and fit, ensuring bulk production readiness and high-quality finish.

The role involves using a range of industrial sewing machines, fabric handling, and collaboration with the product team to meet weekly workload targets and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years relevant experience.
• Strong eye for detail and accuracy in sewing.
• Experience in commercial sewing environment preferred.
• Able to maintain and repair sewing machines.
• Experience with lingerie fabrics advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Proficiently operate industrial sewing machinery to produce accurate finished samples.
• Cut samples by hand in various fabrics following instructions.
• Ensure samples are made accurately first time by flagging issues with patterns.
• Collaborate with pattern techs on development and construction methods for bulk production.
• Accurately measure samples and feed back any measurement issues.
• Check quality of samples to ensure they meet standards.
• Manage fabric and trim stocks in the sample room with teammates.
• Support workload planning and timely delivery of samples.

Purpose of the Role

Support the development of Bravissimo brand product by producing accurate lingerie, swimwear and integral support samples to a high technical standard in line with brand requirements. You will work in partnership with the pattern techs from initial concept stage throughout the grading and fit development process to problem solve pattern and make up challenges ensuring that all product developed is fit for bulk production and offers excellent fit and quality for our customers. You will work collaboratively with the other sample machinists and pattern techs to ensure the smooth day to day running of the sample room within the product department. As part of our commitment to delivering the best experience for our customers you will ensure that you proactively seek feedback and insights through regular time in customer facing areas of the business

Key Responsibilities

• Proficiently use a range of industrial sewing machinery to produce technically accurate finished sample garments in line with specification
• Accurate cutting of samples by hand in a range of fabrics including lace, embroidery, stretch jersey etc following cutting and placement instructions given
• Proactive in ensuring samples are made accurately 1st time by checking and highlighting to pattern techs any issues with patterns, technical paperwork and measurement charts
• Work in partnership with the pattern techs on product development at all stages giving feedback and making suggestions for pattern requirements, finish techniques and garment construction methods suitable for the chosen fabrics and trims in bulk production
• Accurately measuring samples that you produce to ensure they meet the required measurement spec and feeding back to tech any problems with achieving the measurements
• Checking all samples you produce to ensure that quality meets expected standards, and sample is fit for intended end purpose e.g. technical fitting, wear trials, buying presentation samples
• Ensure that all feedback and suggestions are recorded on the correct paperwork to retain a full style history
• With the other sample machinists manage the fabric and trim stocks in the sample room to ensure samples are not delayed due to shortages
• Work closely with the other sample machinists and pattern techs to manage the weekly workload in line with the agreed processes and ensuring the efficient running of the sample room
• With the other sample machinists engage with the Technical Manager and Lead Techs to ensure that sample quality standards are deliverable, giving feedback and input into the sample room working processes and machinery inventory
• Supporting the product team and the business with sample amendments and mending of stock samples as and when required
• Being proactive in collaborating and working with other members of the Product team to support the delivery of overall department goals and commitments

Person Specifications

• Minimum 2 year’s relevant experience
• Passion for sewing and product development with an eye for detail and accuracy
• Experience of working in a commercial sewing environment is an advantage
• Proficient in using a range of industrial sewing machinery such as lockstitch, overlock, twin needle with the ability to carry out simple repair/maintenance of those machines if necessary
• Experience in working with a wide range of fabrics for lingerie and swimwear such as stretch jerseys and meshes, satin and silk, fine laces and embroideries
• Technical knowledge of lingerie and swimwear garment construction
• Team player who is confident to work collaboratively and willing to help and support others
• Organised, self-motivated and positive person who works well under pressure
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Knowledge of using Microsoft Outlook and Teams would be advantageous
