Job summary

Caterpillar Peterlee is seeking a Maintenance Technician (multiskilled) to keep a wide range of plant equipment running across three-shift operations. The role includes planned and reactive maintenance, strong safety focus, and opportunities to develop skills in PLCs, robotics, and automated systems.

You will work with SAP PM/Agility CMMS, participate in continuous improvement, and benefit from a comprehensive package including pension, bonus, and extensive holiday arrangements.

Qualifications

• A recognised apprenticeship in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline, an ONC,
• BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance or Engineering equivalent qualification
• Experience with PLCs
• Maintenance and fault-finding experience (Mechanical and Electrical) in a manufacturing environment.
• An interest in problem solving and passion to learn
• Highly motivated with a proactive attitude towards continuous improvement
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and be comfortable to work independently
• NEBOSH/IOSH Qualification or experience and evidence of safety improvement activities

Responsibilities

• Completing planned preventative and reactive breakdown maintenance.
• Completing Dynamic Risk Assessments along with adhering to the company’s Health and Safety policy.
• Utilising the Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP PM, Agility etc) to review previous breakdown data and record actions taken on breakdown recoveries
• Diagnosing PLC concerns and implementing program changes
• Complete training and further learning as required
• Breakdown root cause identification and countermeasure implementation
