Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrically biased)

Location: Walsall, West Midlands

Shift: Double day shift (06:00 - 16:00 / 14:00 - 22:00)

Salary: £45,000+ (competitive), company pension scheme, discretionary bonus (performance-based), 25+ annual leave days + bank holidays, overtime, substantial training

A leading manufacturing company within the construction sector is seeking an electrically biased multiskilled maintenance engineer to join their well-established engineering team. This role offers security and stability, with opportunities for progressive training and development in a supportive environment.

Skills and Qualifications
  • 18th Edition Electrical wiring regulations
  • HNC, City and Guilds, or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (or similar)
  • Minimum of 5+ years industry experience in high-volume manufacturing
  • Proficient in planned and reactive maintenance of electrical and mechanical machinery
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including single-phase and three-phase machinery, relays, switches, sensors, and panel wiring
  • Experience with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of CAD or similar software
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, belts, chains, pulleys, conveyors, gearboxes
  • PLC knowledge is highly desirable
  • Understanding of cold rolling and cold pressing processes (desirable)
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation, quality, and environmental regulations (desirable)
Responsibilities
  • Routine, preventive, and reactive maintenance across the site
  • Diagnose and propose solutions for engineering plant breakdowns and failures
  • Improve performance, efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of systems
  • Design and modify manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Support the development of new electrical parts, products, tooling, and processes
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, environmental, and sustainability policies
  • Participate in training and continuous professional development
