Job summary

EMR is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (60/40) to join our depot maintenance team in the UK. You will diagnose and fault-find on mechanical and electrical systems, perform PPM and breakdown repairs, and maintain conveyors, gearboxes and hydraulics while upholding safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have apprenticeship-based training (C&G NVQ 3), strong mechanical/electrical fault-finding skills, and experience with heavy machinery. Weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Time served apprenticeship with C&G NVQ 3 Diploma in Engineering maintenance or equivalent.
• Good mechanical and electrical fault‑finding skills in heavy industry/manufacturing (60/40).
• Experience with heavy machinery, plant equipment or processing systems.
• Basic PLC fault‑finding (desirable).
• Experience or certification in welding and fabrication.
• Experience with RCA techniques.
• Ability to work some weekends to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and fault-find on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Work on electrical systems including 3-phase motors, control panels and sensors.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs to maximise uptime.
• Maintain and repair conveyors, shredders, motors, bearings, power transmissions, pumps and gearboxes.
• Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ensure all work is completed safely in line with procedures and health & safety standards.
