Job description

MULTISKILLED MAINTENANCE ENGINEER, ELECTRICAL BIAS
Woodlands Home & Garden Group

Location: Rodley, Leeds, LS13, with some travel to our other sites

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with overtime available and a reasonable level of weekend support

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Working pattern: Site-based, with planned flexibility and reasonable out-of-hours breakdown support

About Woodlands

Woodlands Home & Garden Group has been manufacturing timber buildings since 1913. Today, we are a growing group with several manufacturing, distribution and retail sites across the UK.

Our operations cover timber garden buildings, cabins, modular buildings, and window and door manufacturing.

As the business continues to grow, we want to bring more of our engineering and maintenance work in-house. We are looking for an experienced engineer who can help us look after our equipment properly, respond quickly when something goes wrong and reduce our reliance on external contractors.

About The Role

This is a hands-on role covering both electrical and mechanical maintenance.

You will mainly be based at our Rodley manufacturing site, but you may occasionally be asked to support our other locations or provide holiday cover.

You will be responsible for responding to breakdowns, completing planned maintenance and helping us improve the reliability of our equipment.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Finding and repairing electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Responding to breakdowns and getting equipment running safely.
  • Completing planned maintenance, inspections and servicing.
  • Maintaining motors, drives, sensors, control panels, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Supporting the installation, movement and commissioning of equipment.
  • Looking into repeat faults and helping us find permanent solutions.
  • Keeping clear records of repairs, maintenance and outstanding actions.
  • Working with production teams to plan maintenance and minimise disruption.
  • Liaising with contractors, insurers and specialist engineers when required.
  • Helping us manage critical spare parts.
  • Supporting planned shutdowns and agreed out-of-hours breakdown cover.
  • Sharing practical knowledge with operators and trainees.
What We Are Looking For

You will need:

  • A relevant Level 3 electrical or electrotechnical qualification, or equivalent experience and competence.
  • A current BS 7671 qualification.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, engineering or another industrial environment.
  • The ability to diagnose faults using electrical drawings and test equipment.
  • Practical knowledge of motors, drives, control circuits and mechanical components.
  • A sensible and safety-focused approach.
  • The ability to stay calm and communicate clearly during breakdowns.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between our sites when needed.

Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VSDs, CNC equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, fabrication or woodworking machinery would be helpful, but we do not expect one person to be an expert in everything.

  • Permanent, full-time employment
  • Overtime opportunities
  • Annual company bonus
  • Holiday Purchase Scheme
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Company workwear
  • Staff discount
