We are currently recruiting a Multiskilled Engineer for our Ruskington site. The role involves providing technical support to correct, prevent, and eliminate technical problems at the site, and working with production during factory start-up.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to company Health, Safety, Environment, and Hygiene policies.
  • Manage and close out all equipment failures, work orders, and PPM jobs.
  • Enter data into Holistech for all parts used, jobs raised, and completed.
  • Maintain housekeeping of all workshop areas and ensure the department is audit-ready at all times.
  • Follow engineering hand back procedures.
  • Carry out all work to specification, meeting food safety standards.
  • Use appropriate technical support to meet targets in problem correction, prevention, and elimination.
  • Foster teamwork within the Engineering department and across other departments.
  • Maintain excellent timekeeping, attendance, and adherence to procedures.
  • Select the most appropriate communication methods and tools.
  • Respond promptly to issues to minimize downtime, quality, and efficiency problems.
  • Participate as a constructive team member, sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Use risk assessment techniques to ensure safety of plant, equipment, and personnel.
  • Support a safety, quality, and environmental awareness culture.
  • Demonstrate good behavioral and safety principles in all activities.
  • Strive to reduce costs while minimizing production downtime.
  • Be adaptable to shift patterns as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognized qualification in mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Hands-on engineering experience, preferably via recognized apprenticeships in food manufacturing.
  • Technical qualifications in mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, electrical, and PLC/inverter assets.
  • Ability to diagnose and fault-find on various equipment and situations.
  • Experience in safe working practices and risk assessments.
  • Experience working with high hazard equipment and safe isolation procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer engagement skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
  • Proven leadership skills to motivate a diverse team.
  • Ability to work positively with production to facilitate maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Asset Care, and Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Experience with Total Productive Maintenance or Operator-Led Asset Care.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance, especially high-risk utilities.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to program and interrogate PLCs.
  • Experience collaborating with OEM suppliers to improve machine performance and reduce costs.
  • Knowledge of H.A.C.C.P. systems.
  • Proven mentoring skills within an engineering team.
