Multiskilled Electrician

Department: Campus Infrastructure

Salary: Starting from £30,805, rising to £37,174

Closing date: Tuesday 20 May 2025

We wish to appoint an Electrician to join the team! The Campus Infrastructure Department is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and management of the University’s lands and buildings. You will join the Electrical Services team.

Your new job will involve:
  1. Undertaking small to medium-sized installations/alterations works as part of building refurbishment or change of use projects
  2. Planned and reactive maintenance activities in the University's academic buildings, residences, and sports facilities
  3. Repair tasks across the range of electrical building services, plant, and equipment
  4. Some simple mechanical work
You must have:
  • Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship, qualified to minimum City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • A BS 7671 18th edition certificate
  • Relevant technical experience in larger buildings or commercial facilities
  • Good problem-solving, customer service, and communication skills
Ideally, you will also have:
  • Knowledge and experience in the maintenance of modern fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, LV distribution, intruder alarms, access control systems, telephone, and data wiring
  • Demonstrable mechanical skills or willingness to train for them
Further information:

This is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours (Monday-Friday). You will be required to participate in an on-call rota, which attracts an additional allowance, and overtime opportunities are available.
