Job summary

Ritz Recruitment Ltd is seeking a proactive Maintenance Operative (handyman) on a temporary basis at a busy student accommodation site in Southampton. The role is based on one site with tools provided.

You will perform planned, preventative and reactive maintenance to keep the estate safe, compliant, and well-presented for residents. The job requires strong practical skills and the ability to work independently, managing workload and communicating effectively with residents.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance/handyman/trade experience.
• Strong practical skills across maintenance disciplines.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests via internal systems
• Carry out general repairs, including plumbing, decorating, joinery
• Support reactive and planned maintenance (PPM) activities
• Conduct regular inspections of rooms and communal areas
• Identify and address maintenance issues and health & safety risks
• Support record-keeping for maintenance logs, inspections, and compliance
• Deliver a professional and approachable service to residents
• Communicate clearly across teams and with residents
