Multisite EHS Specialist

This role will report directly to the Regional Environmental, Health and Safety Leader - EMEA.

Mainly based at Peterborough, you will cover all United Kingdom locations (Peterborough, Manchester, Wellingborough, Hereford, Runcorn), being responsible for supporting the overall development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs to ensure compliance with local country regulations.

This role involves leading local teams to promote safety and environmental management, with a focus on accident prevention, continuous improvement in compliance, and effective risk and resource management. You will be the ambassador of our Hillenbrand EHS strategy.

Work You’ll Do
EHS System Enhancement and Compliance
  • Continually enhance the overall EHS management system in the defined area to assure compliance and eliminate risks
  • Assist with the strategic direction together with the businesses, region, and Corporate to ensure compliance with global initiatives
  • Monitor regulations specific to manufacturing and lead advocacy efforts for necessary changes
  • Interact with external regulatory agencies to support sites and ensure all compliance obligations are fulfilled
Goal Setting and Performance Monitoring
  • Establish and monitor goals and targets in partnership with the business and Hillenbrand to improve safety culture
  • Monitor incidents in the region to ensure prompt reporting, conduct deep-dive investigations, and implement corrective actions
Leadership and Technical Expertise
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for manufacturing sites and local leadership
  • Play a key role in developing and continuously improving the site safety culture, including ensuring each site has an EHS Management System
Standardization and Best Practices
  • Drive standardization for EHS across the area and ensure alignment with Hillenbrand standards
  • Provide visibility of trends, best practices, and opportunities for improvement as part of the EHS leadership team to drive change across Hillenbrand
Safety Engagement and Culture Development
  • Ensure the sites have proper employee engagement through a safety committee and lead the committee
  • Maintain safety awareness and foster a positive attitude towards incident prevention
Risk Reduction and Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects to reduce overall risks for people and the environment
  • Conduct site EHS audits to assess performance, identify improvement opportunities, and develop plans to address gaps
Basic Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Extensive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment required, multi-site preferred.
  • Experience with interfacing with regulatory agencies on matters of environmental or safety compliance. Strong knowledge of environmental, sustainability and health and safety regulations together with standards applicable to manufacturing. Experience with environmental permitting and hazardous waste management requirements
  • Competent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and influence without power.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A self-starter attitude. A passion for action.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
