ABOUT THE ROLE

Harper’s Bazaar’s Multiplatform Writer (Culture & Entertainment) will be a proactive, self-starter with a passion for all things cultural –from literature, art and entertainment to food and drink. The role will report into the Multiplatform Director and support with the day-to-day running of Bazaar’s site, helping the team to hit traffic and ecommerce targets. The role involves identifying and writing news and features as well as curating and building newsletters and supporting the social media team where necessary.This is an ideal job for an emerging talent who already has journalism experience but is keen to develop as a writer and learn new publishing skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Source and write daily news stories and features – within the realm of culture and entertainment – relevant to /uk, in a timely manner, contributing to traffic growth.
  • Work to support SEO strategy across the site.
  • Work with the social media editor, when needed, to support in the creation of content for Bazaar’s social media channels.
  • Work with the Multiplatform Director on the brand’s newsletter strategy, compiling and building the weekly newsletter and monitoring analytics.
  • Support the team in the creation of ecommerce content, and helping to hit targets.
  • Represent the brand, where appropriate, attending relevant events, including reader events, which may be out of office hours.
  • Monitor traffic and trends, reporting back to the team.
  • Be committed to creating diverse and inclusive content.
  • Be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.
  • You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.

ABOUT YOU

  • Some experience of working on a consumer website.
  • Good understanding of SEO best practices.
  • Experience of uploading content online and use of social media.
  • Ability to generate and translate ideas and concepts into first class digital news stories.
  • Proven experience and talent for writing for web.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a team player.
  • Enthusiastic, with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • A genuine interest for the topics that Harper’s Bazaar covers.
  • Some experience using Photoshop and InDesign
