Job summary

inspiring vet care's Moorview Referrals in Northumberland is seeking a enthusiastic and dedicated Multidisciplinary Veterinary Nurse to join a busy referral hospital. You will rotate through Medicine, ECC, Wards, Soft Tissue, Orthopaedics, Imaging, with exposure to Cardiology, Oncology and Spinal cases, developing skills across multiple disciplines.

You’ll work a flexible rota around 40 hours, with 5x8 or 4x10 shifts, 1:5 weekends with TOIL, and holiday cover.

Qualifications

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS is required.
  • Experience in clinical practice with growing medical/surgical nursing skills.
  • Strong communication and client relationship abilities.
  • Good organisational skills and workload management.
  • Proactive learning, reflection and improvement mindset.
  • Experience in surgery and anaesthesia is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnostic imaging support including CT and radiography.
  • Monitor anaesthesia and inpatient care, including medications and monitoring.
  • Discharge patients and provide perioperative rehabilitation.
  • Prepare patients for theatre and scrub into procedures as needed.

Moorview Referrals is a busy, purpose-built referral hospitallocatedin beautiful Northumberland, within easy reach of the stunning coastline and the vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Our modern facility is equipped to thehighest standards,including four operating theatres (one with fluoroscopy),CTand MRI scanners,a new electrochemotherapy machines for oncology patients,multiple ultrasound machines, and advanced endoscopy equipment.Weare proud tokeepmany cases under our careforrehabilitation,as part of ouronsite rehab centre we havephysio and hydrotherapy equipmentallowingpets to continuetheirtreatment.

We are a large, supportive clinical team withexpertisein many different areas, working together to deliver exceptional patient care across a wide range of disciplines. We offer referral services in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery,internal medicine, ECC, and cardiology, providing a varied and rewarding caseload. As an ISFM Gold Standard practice working towards zero pain certification, we are committed to continually raising standards in patient care.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As aMultidisciplinaryVeterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

You’ll work a flexible rota covering 40 hours between 6:30 am and 9 pm, with a choice of either 5 x 8-hour shifts or 4 x 10-hour shifts to suit your lifestyle. You’ll also join a 1:5 weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday with TOIL) and take part in our bank holiday and Christmas cover, with occasional support across other departments when needed. We can be flexible if someone would like to work part-time shifts; however, Mondays and weekend shifts are a requirement.

You’llbe part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, providing exceptional nursing care across a diverse and complex referral caseload while working alongside experienced clinicians across a range of specialist disciplines.This role is ideal for a nurse looking to broaden their clinicalexpertise, develop new skills and gain valuable experience within amultidisciplinary referral hospital.

General responsibilities include:

  • Diagnostic imaging such as CT and radiography
  • Monitoring anaesthesia
  • Inpatient care including medicating,walkingand monitoring of hospitalised patients
  • Discharging patients
  • Providing perioperative rehabilitation to patients
  • Preparing patients for theatre
  • Scrubbing into procedures whererequired
