Job summary

Axis CLC Group is seeking a skilled Carpenter/Multi Trader to join our Onward Maintenance Team for the Peabody Housing Contract. Covering approximately 8,000 properties in and around Thamesmead, you’ll bring carpentry expertise and multi-trade capability to deliver high-quality repairs with first-time fix focus.

You’ll work across occupied homes, train apprentices, and follow health and safety standards. A UK driving licence and a tool kit are essential; NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in Carpentry (or equivalent) required.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Experience across multiple trades (tiling, plastering, decorating).
• Fire door installation knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of social housing repairs & maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out multi-trade works to support project completion.
• Carpentry tasks including kitchen units, doors, boxing in.
• Perform basic plumbing, tiling, plastering and decorating.
• Record work in real time via the Axis mobile app.
• Coordinate with supervisors, planners and admin teams.
• Complete risk assessments and follow health and safety procedures.
• Support apprentices and uphold customer service standards.

The Role

We’re looking for a skilled Carpenter/Multi Trader to join our Onward Maintenance Team for the Peabody Housing Contract. Covering approximately 8,000 properties in and around the surrounding areas of Thamesmead.

You’ll lead with carpentry expertise but also support wider multi-trade tasks to ensure high-quality, well-rounded repairs. You’ll deliver a reliable, resident-focused service with a focus on first-time fixes and professional standards.

What You’ll Do

• Carry out multi-trade works to support project completion, including:
• Full range of Carpentry ( eg kitchen units new and replacements, internal and external doors, boxing in)
• Basic plumbing
• Tiling
• Patch plastering and making good
• Painting and decorating
• Support multi-trade repairs including:
• Wall and floor tiling
• 1st and 2nd fix carpentry
• Patch plastering and making good
• Painting and decorating to a professional standard
• Record work accurately in real time via the Axis mobile app.
• Collaborate with supervisors, planners and admin teams to keep delivery smooth and efficient.
• Complete risk assessments and follow health and safety procedures on every job.
• Support apprentices and uphold Axis’s high standard of customer service.
• Work across occupied residential properties and be available to participate in out-of-hours support or emergency callout rota when required.

About You

You’re a reliable, adaptable tradesperson who takes pride in delivering high-quality work across multiple trades. You communicate clearly with residents, work well as part of a team, and help us maintain safe, warm, well-presented homes across the portfolio.

Requirements

• Up to £40,660 depending upon experience
• NVQ Level 2 or3 or City & Guilds in Carpentry (or equivalent)
• Fire door installation and sign off ( preferred not essential)
• Experience across multiple trades (tiling, carpentry, plastering, decorating)
• Full UK driving licence and well-maintained tool kit
• Knowledge of social housing repairs & maintenance
• Strong Health & Safety awareness and attention to detail
