Job summary

Axis CLC is seeking a skilled Carpenter/Multi Trader to join the Onward Maintenance Team for the Peabody Housing Contract. Covering approximately 8,000 properties in and around Thamesmead, you’ll lead with carpentry expertise while supporting wider multi-trade tasks to deliver high-quality, resident-focused repairs.

You’ll work across occupied homes, complete first-time fixes to professional standards, record work in real time via the Axis mobile app, and collaborate with supervisors, planners

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in Carpentry or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence and a well-maintained tool kit.
• Experience across tiling, carpentry, plastering and decorating.
• Fire door installation and sign off (preferred, not essential).
• Knowledge of social housing repairs and maintenance.
• Strong Health & Safety awareness and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out multi-trade works to support project completion.
• Carpentry tasks: e.g., kitchen units, doors, boxing in.
• Basic plumbing, tiling, plastering and decorating.
• Record work in real time via the Axis mobile app.
• Collaborate with supervisors, planners and admin teams.
• Complete risk assessments and follow health and safety procedures.
• Support apprentices and uphold high customer service.
• Work across occupied properties and participate in out-of-hours rota.

The Role

We’re looking for a skilledCarpenter/Multi Traderto join our Onward Maintenance Teamfor the Peabody Housing Contract. Covering approximately 8,000 properties in and around the surrounding areas of Thamesmead.

You’ll lead withcarpentryexpertise but also support wider multi-trade tasks to ensure high-quality, well-rounded repairs. You’ll deliver a reliable, resident-focused service with a focus on first-time fixes and professional standards.

What You’ll Do

• Carry out multi-trade works to support project completion, including:

• Full range of Carpentry (egkitchen units new and replacements, internal and external doors, boxing in)

• Basic plumbing

• Tiling

• Patch plastering and making good

• Painting anddecorating

• Support multi-trade repairs including:

• Wall and floor tiling

• 1st and 2nd fix carpentry

• Patch plastering and making good

• Painting and decorating to a professional standard

• Record work accurately in real time via the Axis mobile app.

• Collaborate with supervisors, planners and admin teams to keep delivery smooth and efficient.

• Complete risk assessments and follow health and safety procedures on every job.

• Support apprentices and uphold Axis’s high standard of customer service.

• Work across occupied residential properties and be available to participate in out-of-hours support or emergency callout rota when required.

About You

You’re a reliable, adaptable tradesperson who takes pride in delivering high-quality work across multiple trades. You communicate clearly with residents, work well as part of a team, and help us maintain safe, warm, well-presented homes across the portfolio.

Requirements

• Up to £40,660depending upon experience

• NVQ Level2 or3 or City & Guilds inCarpentry(or equivalent)

• Fire door installation and sign off( preferrednot essential)

• Experience across multiple trades (tiling, carpentry, plastering, decorating)

• Full UK driving licence and well-maintained tool kit

• Knowledge of social housing repairs & maintenance

• Strong Health & Safety awareness and attention to detail
