Hyde Group in Brighton and surrounding areas is seeking a hands-on Multi Trader - Carpenter to carry out day-to-day repairs in our homes covering North of Brighton, Crawley, and Haywards Heath. You’ll be trusted to get jobs done right first time and to treat customers with respect in their homes.

This role requires solid experience across carpentry, plumbing and plastering, a full UK driving licence and UPVC skills.

Qualifications

• Solid experience across multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing and plastering.
• Able to work independently with a practical problem-solver mindset.
• Confident with hand and power tools and focused on first-time fixes.
• Full UK driving licence and UPVC skills are required.
• Experience in social housing is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out multi-trade repairs including carpentry, plumbing, plastering and general maintenance.
• Fix day-to-day issues such as doors, kitchens, bathrooms, leaks, walls and flooring.
• Complete patch plastering, minor tiling, painting and finishing works.
• Work on your own jobs and alongside other trades when needed.
• Follow work orders, report progress and materials used.
• Work safely at all times and follow Hyde’s health and safety procedures.
• Provide a professional, friendly service to customers in their homes.
• UPVC repairs and maintenance: repairing hinges, handles and locking mechanisms.
• Install new fire doors, including frame adjustments.

If you’re a hands‑on tradesperson who can turn their hand to a range of jobs and takes pride in doing things properly, we’d like to hear from you.

As a Multi Trader - Carpenter at Hyde, you’ll be working in our homes carrying out day‑to‑day repairs and maintenance. You’ll be trusted to get jobs done right first time and to treat our customers with respect in their homes.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Carrying out multi‑trade repairs including carpentry, plumbing, plastering and general maintenance
• Fixing day‑to‑day issues such as doors, kitchens, bathrooms, leaks, walls and flooring
• Completing patch plastering, minor tiling, painting and similar finishing works
• Working on your own jobs but also alongside other trades when needed
• Following work orders and reporting back on progress and materials used
• Working safely at all times and following Hyde’s health and safety procedures
• Providing a professional, friendly service to customers in their homes
• UPVC Repairs & Maintenance: Repairing and maintaining windows and doors, including replacing hinges, handles, and locking mechanisms.
• Installing new Fire doors, including cutting and adjusting frames.

What We’re Looking For

• Solid experience across multiple trades, especially carpentry, plumbing and plastering
• Confident using hand and power tools
• Able to work independently and manage your own workload
• A practical problem‑solver who can spot issues and fix them properly
• Good communication skills and a customer‑friendly attitude
• Physically fit and happy with hands‑on work
• Experience working in social housing is a bonus
• A full, valid UK driving licence
• Must have UPVC skills

• Proven experience in multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, and general maintenance.
• Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of trade‑specific techniques, materials, and safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour.
• Experience working in social housing is desirable
• Valid driver's licence
