Job Description

Known as Red Tops, our Multi Sports Coaches lead and bring to life fun activities for children aged between 8 and 17. Each coach is assigned their own group of 16 children and will lead and support them in activity sessions, including football, tennis, badminton, cricket, and swimming — typically lasting 30 to 60 minutes.

Multi Sports Coaches report to the Camp Manager and are encouraged to demonstrate ‘Active Coaching’ — providing high-energy, fun, and inclusive sessions that engage every child, regardless of ability.

Child safety is our top priority. You’ll ensure the welfare of children at all times, supervise during breaks, participate in swimming sessions, oversee equipment use, record incidents promptly, implement behaviour management policies, and uphold health and safety standards.

We operate at some fantastic school and university venues across the UK and partner with organizations like the RNRMC, Annington Trust, and the Army Welfare Service, running camps for children of serving personnel at military establishments. If you’d like to join us in a residential capacity, please note this in your application.

Person Specification (Ideal, but with some flexibility)

  • Availability for the full season (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5.30pm) is preferred; during summer, a minimum of 3 consecutive weeks is required.
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children aged 5-17.
  • At least 3 months’ experience coaching sport or delivering active games.
  • Vibrant, resilient, team player.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Level 2 or higher qualification in Primary or Secondary Teaching, Sports Coaching, or Physical Education.
  • Paediatric First Aid certification (training opportunities available).

Kings Active Foundation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to share our commitment to safeguarding, ensuring a safe environment where young people can thrive.

About us

Kings Camps is a market-leading not-for-profit organization offering sports and activity day camps at over 50 UK locations, encouraging children and young people to be active, have fun, and learn together.

Founded in 1991, inspired by US-style summer camps, we aimed to bring similar experiences to UK children through our model, which enables us to reach more children via not-for-profit work in the UK and overseas.

Our coaches (called Red Tops) deliver high-quality sports camps with energy, passion, and a commitment to child development, which we call the Kings Factor.
