Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is recruiting for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join our team supporting the 3M client in Skelmersdale. This fixed-site role offers a modern facility with strong benefits and a five-day week with some flexibility.

You will perform planned maintenance, repairs and inspections on electrical systems, working with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime and improve energy efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification: BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and City & Guilds Level 2.
  • Desirable: City & Guilds Level 3 including AM2 and I&T qualification (2391).
  • 2+ years' experience in electrical maintenance or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, diagrams and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and hands-on fault diagnosis.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills for a multi-skilled team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on electrical systems.
  • Diagnose faults across electrical equipment and lighting to minimise downtime.
  • Carry out electrical inspections to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with production, operations and engineering teams to optimise performance.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, service records and compliance documentation.
  • Identify improvements to enhance reliability, energy efficiency and uptime.

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a skilled and proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join our dedicated team supporting the 3M client in Skelmersdale. This role is ideal for an experienced technician who thrives in a dynamic industrial environment, combining hands‑on electrical expertise with multi‑skilled maintenance responsibilities to keep critical systems running at peak performance.

This role sits within CBRE's Engineering and Technical Services team, where colleagues are responsible for delivering expert support, preventive and corrective maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of equipment and systems to support seamless site operations.

What You’ll Do:
  • Deliver planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on electrical systems and equipment, supporting a proactive, multi‑skilled approach to site maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair faults across electrical equipment, lighting systems, and related mechanical systems to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Carry out electrical inspections, systems to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance within UK regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with production, operations, and engineering teams to minimize downtime, optimize performance, and ensure the smooth running of all facilities equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date maintenance logs, service records, and compliance documentation to support traceability and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and recommend improvements and upgrades to enhance system reliability, energy efficiency, and overall operational performance.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in full compliance with health and safety regulations and relevant electrical standards and codes of practice.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and integration of new equipment and technologies, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
What you’ll need:
  • Minimum qualification: BS 7671 (Wiring Regulations), with demonstrated competence in electrical installation, City & Guilds Level 2
  • Desirable: City & Guilds Level 3 (e.g. 2365/2357) including AM2, plus a recognized Inspection & Testing qualification (such as 2391 or equivalent)
  • Proven experience (typically 2+ years) in electrical maintenance or equivalent
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and a hands‑on, proactive approach to fault diagnosis and resolution.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multi‑skilled and cross‑functional team.
