Job summary

Barnsley Recruitment Services LTD is seeking a Multi-Skilled Technician (Electrical Bias) for a client based near Tenbury Wells. The role involves diagnosing faults, maintaining injection and blow moulding equipment, and performing safe changeovers to keep production running.

Hours are 4 on/4 off with 2 days and 2 nights (7-7). Relevant electrical qualifications and PLC troubleshooting skills are required; 18th Edition is a plus. Training on the Injection Moulding Setter will be provided.

Qualifications

• Electrical qualification (ONC or C&G 236 or equivalent).
• 18th Edition wiring regulations – advantageous but not essential.
• PLC troubleshooting including uploads and downloads of programs.
• Hydraulic troubleshooting with ability to diagnose hydraulic faults.
• Pneumatic troubleshooting with strong understanding of pneumatic systems.
• General engineering skills: mechanical and electrical competence.
• Injection or blow moulding experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Automation experience advantageous, e.g., Siemens S7 IPC-controlled systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair machinery faults quickly to minimise downtime.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across injection and blow moulding equipment.
• Complete safe and efficient system changeovers to support production schedules.
• Assist with upgrades, modifications and small-scale improvement projects.
• Identify and implement reliability, efficiency and safety improvements.
• Provide ongoing support to the Injection Moulding Setter; on-the-job training provided.

SALARY: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, based on experience

WORKING HOURS: 4 on/4off - 2 days, then 2 nights (7-7)

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plant breakdown response — diagnose and repair machinery faults quickly to minimise downtime.
• Machinery servicing — carry out planned and reactive maintenance across injection and blow moulding equipment.
• System changeovers — complete safe and efficient changeovers to support production schedules.
• Minor engineering projects — assist with upgrades, modifications and small‑scale improvement work.
• Continuous improvement — identify and implement reliability, efficiency and safety improvements.
• Injection moulding setter support — provide ongoing support to the Shift Injection Moulding Setter (full on‑the‑job training provided).

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Electrical qualification — minimum ONC or C&G 236 (or equivalent).
• 18th Edition — advantageous but not essential.
• PLC troubleshooting — including uploads and downloads of programs.
• Hydraulic troubleshooting — confident diagnosing hydraulic faults.
