Job description

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Fordham

At DS Smith, we are seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer with factory experience to join our team. You will play a vital role in the ongoing development and maintenance of our site.

You should have experience delivering excellent service within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Your responsibilities will include conducting preventative and reactive asset maintenance, focusing on safety and equipment reliability to meet production demands.

You will use your expertise to restore equipment during unplanned breakdowns and provide technical feedback on assets to production and engineering stakeholders. We are looking for someone comfortable working closely with management to develop risk assessments, adhere to safe systems of work, and achieve performance targets.

Working Hours:

12-hour shifts, 4 on 4 off (alternating days and nights)

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Fault find and resolve technical/process issues efficiently and effectively
  2. Resolve breakdown issues with minimal impact on production
  3. Complete all maintenance activities on time as scheduled
  4. Provide technical support for capital projects and improvements
  5. Communicate effectively within and across departments, using escalation procedures to manage issues and priorities
  6. Follow company purchasing procedures
  7. Adhere to stores procedures
  8. Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times
  9. Be a proactive team member
  10. Seek to improve technical skills and knowledge for self and team

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Fully qualified electrically biased maintenance technician, accredited to at least NVQ Level 3 or BTEC
  • Effective fault diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in autonomous maintenance practices within a factory environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment
  • Strong focus on Health and Safety
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools, especially Excel
