Job summary

Omega Resource Group is recruiting a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer for our Erith site. The role supports safe, efficient operation of production machinery and site services on a 4 days on, 4 days off pattern with 5:00am–5:00pm days and 5:00pm–5:00am nights.

You will diagnose faults, perform PPM, install and modify electrical panels, and work with contractors to maintain high standards of safety and reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
• ONC/HNC in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working on 415V 3-phase production machinery and factory services.
• PLC fault-finding experience.
• Good understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Experience carrying out electrical installations to current regulations.
• Ability to build and modify electrical control panels.
• Knowledge of industrial motors, motor controls, and associated equipment.
• Able to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Respond quickly to production breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with maintenance schedules.
• Maintain and repair production machinery, plant equipment, and site services.
• Complete electrical and mechanical repairs to a high standard while minimising downtime.
• Support continuous improvement activities to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Carry out machinery installations, upgrades, and modifications in line with PUWER regulations.
• Work alongside contractors and ensure all site procedures are followed.
• Accurately complete maintenance documentation and detailed shift handovers.
• Manage spare parts requirements and ensure correct stores processes are followed.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, GMP, health & safety, and food safety compliance.
• Follow escalation procedures and support operational priorities across the site.
