Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is seeking an experienced Gang Supervisor for major highways projects in Manchester and the North West. You will be part of a multi-skilled surfacing team delivering works safely, efficiently and to specification.

You will operate road surfacing plant, work with hot coated materials, lay materials to BS tolerances, perform plant checks, maintain housekeeping, and promote safety and compliance on site.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a gang.

Responsibilities

• Operate road surfacing plant and equipment (pavers, rollers, tractors, chippers).
• Work with hot coated materials in live highway environments.
• Lay coated materials to specifications and BS tolerances.
• Carry out day-to-day plant checks and basic maintenance.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and promote safety on site.
• Support zero harm and site compliance through safe practices.

Job description

Experienced in road surfacing? Confident operating surfacing plant? Looking for steady work across major highways projects in Manchester and the North West? If so, this could be the role for you., Gang Supervisor, you'll be a key part of a multi-skilled surfacing team delivering works safely, efficiently and to specification. Your role will include:

• Operating road surfacing plant and equipment such as pavers, rollers, tractors, chippers and associated machinery
• Working with hot coated materials on live construction and highways environments
• Laying coated materials in line with specifications and BS tolerances
• Carrying out day-to-day plant checks and basic maintenance
• Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards
• Playing an active role in zero harm, behavioural safety and site compliance
• Promoting safe working practices and challenging unsafe behaviours on site
• Strong commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality standards

You'll already have practical experience within road surfacing laying coated materials ideally across highways environments such as motorways, 'A' roads and airfields. Suitable candidates will have:

• Previous experience in asphalt laying and road surfacing
• Proven ability to operate surfacing plant, with relevant plant tickets
• Experience working on larger infrastructure or motorway projects
• CSCS card (preferred)
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a gang
• Good communication skills and a proactive, hands on attitude
• Flexible approach to working hours and locations
