Job summary

SPAR Appleby is hiring a Multi-Skilled Retail Assistant to support both shop floor and Post Office services. You will handle till operations, stock replenishment, and customer service in a busy store in Appleby-in-Westmorland. This role offers variety across retail and post office tasks with 16 hours per week.

The ideal candidate is customer-focused, reliable, and keen to learn, with the ability to work across different areas and adapt to changing priorities, in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety
• Previous experience in retail or food preparation is beneficial but not essential

Responsibilities

• Delivering excellent customer service across the store, including till operation
• Replenishing stock and maintaining availability across the shop floor
• Keeping displays, counters, and food areas clean, stocked, and visually appealing
• Supporting with deliveries, stock rotation, and reducing waste
• Serving customers at the Post Office counter, delivering friendly and professional service.
• Reconciling daily transactions and cash, maintaining accuracy and security.
• Providing advice and guidance to customers on Post Office products and services.
