Job summary

Mears in Norwich is seeking a skilled Multi Skilled Operative to join the Major Works team. The role covers occupied and void social housing properties, delivering planned refurbishment with plastering as core trade and supporting works across other trades.

You will work on major refurbishment programmes, undertake damp and mould remedial works, complete plastering, and deliver high-quality finishes. A flexible, customer-focused approach and full UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven plastering experience including patching and skimming.
• Experience in social housing or major refurbishment environments.
• Experience with damp and mould remedial works.
• Ability to perform multi-skilled tasks (plumbing, carpentry, tiling, finishing).
• Willingness to support a range of trades on large refurbishment projects.
• Ability to work independently or in a site team with attention to detail.
• Customer-focused approach when working in occupied properties.
• Solid health and safety knowledge in site environments.
• Confident using handheld devices for job updates.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned works and refurbishment activities across social housing properties as part of major works programmes.
• Undertake damp and mould remedial works as part of wider refurbishment and upgrade projects.
• Complete plastering works including patch plastering, skimming, and full room or area re-skims where required.
• Repair and renew walls and ceilings as part of refurbishment works, ensuring surfaces are prepared to a high standard for decoration.
• Deliver high-quality finishes across all works, ensuring properties are ready for handover within project timelines.
• Undertake multi-skilled tasks including basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling, and finishing works as part of planned projects.
• Complete installations and replacements of components (e.g. kitchens, bathrooms, internal fixtures) where required.
• Carry out making-good works following major installations or refurbishment activities.
• Work collaboratively with site teams, supervisors, and other trades to deliver projects on time and to specification.
• Maintain a professional and respectful approach when working in both occupied and void properties.
• Accurately record works completed using handheld devices in line with project requirements.
• Identify and report any additional works, defects, or risks to support project delivery.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and site procedures at all times.
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment to required standards.
