Job description

Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Porton Down, Porton, Salisbury, Wilts, SP4 0JQ
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:00AM-4:30PM)

We are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our team of 12 based at Porton Down.

You will be undertaking planned and reactive maintenance works on commercial buildings such as offices and laboratories, using your provided work van.

We are looking for someone who enjoys variety in their workload and who wants to lend a hand to a variety of trades and skills. Your day-to-day tasks can include anything from kitchen repairs, painting and decorating, dropping fuel bowsers along with any other minor maintenance tasks.

You will have your tasks scheduled for you on a PDA device, where you will then go on to your task. There will be a mix of lone working and working within a team, depending on the task.

There are many opportunities within this role for professional development, including online training and other qualifications available if desired.

What you’ll need for this role

First and foremost, this role is a mobile position and will include driving a company vehicle, therefore it is essential that you are comfortable with travelling and hold a full and valid UK driving licence. You will have previous experience in a multi-trade role, with qualifications in a trade being desirable (preferably carpentry). You will need decent IT skills, as you will be using laptops, tablets and other devices as part of your work. You will also need to be able to work within a team and alone if necessary.

It is desirable that you have experience of operating within an MOD environment and have familiarity with geography and establishments within the area of responsibility.

You must be able to pass SC Clearance to be considered for this role.

You must be a British National to be eligible for this role.
