We are the largest provider of repairs and maintenance, and regeneration services across the UK. Mears provide tailored rapid-response and planned maintenance services through partnering arrangements with more than 70 local authorities, Arm’s Length Management Organisations and Housing Associations.

About the Role:

A Multi Skilled Operative within our Octavia branch will support residents with responsive repairs across our portfolio of properties working on a planned route. Part of a local team undertaking high standard Multi Trade repairs and refurbishment activities to housing properties delivering best in class customer service and satisfying all safety, quality, and cost control standards. You will have a certified core trade and complimenting this can deliver additional trade activities in support of completing repair/refurbishment works on time and to a high standard in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures. Take ownership in undertaking construction, fault finding and maintenance repairs aiming for a first-time completion whilst remaining within budget and time parameters.

  • You will have a certified core trade and complimenting this have the ability to deliver additional trade activities in support of completing repair/refurbishment works on time and to a high standard in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures.
  • Take ownership in undertaking construction, fault finding and maintenance repairs aiming for a first-time completion whilst remaining within budget and time parameters.
  • Ensure that the customer experience is central to all activities by adopting a professional manner when communicating with service users, clients, and both internal/external stakeholders. This includes but is not limited to appearance, company ID, condition of vehicles and maintaining a high standard of Health & Safety requirements. It may be necessary where requested to obtain Customer feedback on completion of works.
  • Process all activities in association with tasks/works electronically utilising a handheld device (PDA). This includes but not limited to Worksheets, timesheets, photographic evidence of works before – during – after, van stock replenishment, booking of annual leave, vehicle inspections, safeguarding issues, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Keep all supplied company assets in a good condition in line with the company policies and report to your Supervisor/Manager where damages occur.
  • Utilise existing stock or collect materials as and when required to meet works order requirements, in accordance with standard operating procedures for purchasing and van stock control compliance.
  • Attend informal and formal meetings and training sessions as required.

Role Criteria:

  • Core Trade in Plastering with experience in Tiling Painting & Decorating
  • Social housing background

  • Good Communication Skills
  • UK full driving license

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21, have held your licence over 3 months, and have less than 9 points.
