We are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our team at the Tarmac Exeter Asphalt Plant in Exeter, Devon. This role is also accessible from Exmouth, Exminster, Sidmouth, Seaton, Honiton, Cullompton, Tiverton, Crediton, Taunton, Axminster, Chard, Torquay, Teignmouth, Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, and surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Plant Supervisor, the duties of the Multi Skilled Operative include the day-to-day operations of fixed or mobile plant. The asphalt plant operator will work with an internal team to plan the mixing program, ensure stocks are maintained and replenished timely.

Your role as a Multi Skilled Operative will include:

• Mixing asphalt to specification
• Working with team members to ensure quality material and on-time deliveries
• Weighbridge duties
• Loading shovel (mobile plant)
• Assisting the Supervisor in meeting production targets
• Ensuring plant safety compliance at all times
• Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality responsibilities
• Following relevant policies and procedures
• Inspections on the plant and addressing defects with remedial actions
• Assisting in plant maintenance
• Maximizing plant availability
• Maintaining high standards of site housekeeping

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in an industrial or factory environment, working as an operative or labourer, with good communication skills and a desire to develop operative and supervisory skills.

We expect candidates to demonstrate:

• Knowledge of plant operations, preferably with experience in mobile plant
• Shovel licence – desirable
• Flexibility and ability to work as part of a multi-skilled team
• Self-motivation and ability to motivate others
• Good timekeeping and flexibility to meet unit requirements
• Strong communication skills, including problem reporting
• Full UK Driving Licence
• IT literacy

Previous experience in asphalt plant operations is beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided.
