Job summary

TechMet Ltd. is recruiting an Electrical biased Maintenance Engineer to work a days-only role based in Belfast.

The ideal candidate will have a formal electrical qualification and substantial hands-on experience with PLCs, VSDs and electrical schematics, plus strong mechanical skills for plant maintenance. Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, repairing electrical and mechanical systems, liaising with production, and reducing downtime.

Qualifications

• Formal electrical engineering qualification required or equivalent.
• Time-served electrical engineer with 5+ years in a modern process factory, or a time-served mechanical engineer with 5+ years electrical maintenance experience.
• Experience with PLCs, inverters (VSDs) and reading electrical drawings/schematics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and repair electrical systems and mechanical plant.
• Maintain and repair a range of plant/equipment and liaise with Production on availability.
• Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime and maximize productivity.
• Participate in call-out rota with enhanced pay for emergency breakdowns.

Job description

Excellent opportunity for an Electrical biased Maintenance Engineer to work in a Days only role based in Belfast. This is a well-established company and offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Maintenance Electrician with good mechanical experience or a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with strong electrical skills.

The Role:

You will be responsible for diagnosis and fault finding, solving technical problems on electrical and mechanical plant. Specifically:

• Fault diagnosis, repair and installation of electrical systems – PLCs, motor drives, VSDs
• Maintenance and repair of mechanical plant/equipment
• Liaise with Production on machinery availability and respond to breakdowns in a timely manner
• Reduce amount of downtime and increase productivity levels
• Respond to emergency breakdowns (call-out rota) – enhanced payment

Ideal Candidates:

The role will appeal to candidates coming from a food/drinks/pharma environment, where working to strict legislative standards are required. Specifically:

• A formal electrical engineering qualification eg HNC/ONC/NVQ Level 3/C&G
• Time-served electrical engineer with mechanical experience and a minimum of 5 years’ maintenance experience in a modern process control factory OR Time-served mechanical engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ electrical maintenance experience
• Prior experience of PLCs, Inverters (VSDs) and be confident in reading and interpreting electrical drawings/schematics
• Good mechanical skills and knowledge, comfortable carrying out maintenance and repair on a range of plant including pneumatic systems, drive couplings, etc
• Knowledge of welding would be an advantage
