Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled) based in Exeter. You will maintain and fault-find a wide range of heavy industrial machinery, with opportunities to develop electrical skills and progress into a fully multi-skilled role.

The role offers varied production equipment, funded technical qualifications and a strong benefits package, with days, rotating shifts and continental patterns available.

Qualifications

• Recognised Level 3 engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent technical experience.
• Experience maintaining and fault finding industrial manufacturing machinery.
• Strong electrical or mechanical fault-finding capabilities within your discipline.
• For electrically biased engineers: experience with three-phase systems, motors, drives, control panels and PLC-controlled equipment.
• For mechanically biased engineers: experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, bearings, gearboxes and industrial machinery.
• Logical approach to diagnosing faults and identifying root causes.
• Positive attitude towards safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across heavy industrial and automated machinery.
• Electrical fault finding on three-phase systems, motors, drives, control panels, sensors, relays and contactors.
• Diagnosing faults on PLC-controlled equipment, including I/O diagnostics and electrical systems.
• Mechanical maintenance involving hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, bearings, gearboxes and motors.
• Working with specialist production equipment, automated systems and complex mechanical assemblies.
• Identifying and resolving equipment faults to minimise downtime and improve plant reliability.
• Supporting equipment installations, upgrades and commissioning projects.
• Contributing to improvements in maintenance practices and equipment reliability.
• Working closely with a skilled engineering team in a safety-focused environment.
