Job summary

Grassroots Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer in Stockport to safeguard the reliability and safety of a varied range of production machinery.

You will perform planned preventive maintenance and reactive breakdown work across CNC machinery, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, motors and drives, with hands-on support for automation and robotics where required. A strong mechanical or electrical background with a proactive attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a maintenance engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Strong practical skills in either mechanical or electrical maintenance, with some exposure to the other discipline.
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic ability with a practical, methodical approach to breakdowns.
• Experience with industrial machinery; CNC exposure would be useful.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, drives, gearboxes or automation systems.
• Apprentice-trained or suitably qualified in mechanical, electrical or multi-skilled engineering.
• PLC experience would be advantageous, with training available.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to reactive breakdowns across production equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults, minimising downtime.
• Maintain and repair equipment including CNC machines, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, motors and drives.
• Support automated equipment, PLC-controlled machinery and robotics where required.
• Contribute to projects and continuous improvement to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure work follows procedures.
• Work with production colleagues to keep equipment safe, operational and performing.
• Promote high standards of health and safety in all activity.
