An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a highly reputable manufacturing organisation based in Blackburn. This role offers days based shift pattern, working 10:00 - 18:00, and offers you the chance to work within a supportive and knowledgeable team, where your technical expertise will be valued and nurtured.

What you'll do:

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will play an integral role in ensuring the smooth operation of all plant machinery within this busy manufacturing environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve both proactive maintenance tasks aimed at preventing issues before they arise, as well as reactive interventions when unexpected breakdowns occur.

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime across the facility.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns by diagnosing faults efficiently and implementing effective solutions to restore operations as quickly as possible.
  • Work closely with production teams to understand their needs and provide technical support that enhances productivity while maintaining safety standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for process optimisation and supporting projects that drive operational excellence.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities using the company’s systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
  • Participate actively in regular team meetings, sharing insights and collaborating on best practices to foster a culture of collective problem-solving.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery or equipment, ensuring seamless integration into existing processes with minimal disruption.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety policies at all times, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues through responsible behaviour.
  • Assist in training less experienced team members by sharing your knowledge generously and encouraging their professional development within the department.

What you bring:

To excel as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer in this organisation, you will bring substantial hands-on experience gained within comparable environments where both mechanical and electrical expertise are required

  • Demonstrable experience working as a multi-skilled engineer within a manufacturing or industrial setting, ideally involving both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • A recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is highly desirable for this position.
  • Proven ability to diagnose faults quickly using logical thinking combined with hands-on technical skills developed through practical experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different departments while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety practices demonstrated by previous adherence to relevant regulations in similar roles.
  • Experience using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar software tools for recording maintenance activities accurately.
