Job summary

Müller UK & Ireland is seeking a highly skilled Unit Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team in Telford. You will work in a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment, carrying out both reactive and planned maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.

You will diagnose electrical, mechanical and automation faults, maintain critical production equipment, and drive continuous improvement to ensure safety, quality and OEE targets are met.

Qualifications

• Time-served engineering apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Experience working within a multi-skilled maintenance environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience maintaining machinery within manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automated lines.
• Experience of preventative maintenance systems and planned maintenance.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and team-working skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and support production performance.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities through the CMMS system.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and automation faults.
• Maintain pumps, valves, filling equipment, process systems and fast-moving production machinery.
• Ensure equipment is safe and fully operational before returning to service.
• Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.
• Work collaboratively with Production and Operational teams to achieve site performance targets.
• Maintain engineering standards that support safety, quality and OEE performance.

Location: Telford

Contract: Permanent / Full time

Salary: £57,289 per annum plus paid overtime at 1.5x rate

Hours / Shift: 4 on 4 off rotating days and nights, 7am - 7pm / 7pm - 7am (42 hours on average)

We're looking for a highly skilled Unit Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team in Telford. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to work within a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment, supporting production through both planned and reactive maintenance activities.

You’ll play a key role in maximising equipment reliability, reducing downtime, driving continuous improvement and ensuring our manufacturing assets operate safely and efficiently.

What you’ll be doing

• Carrying out reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and support production performance

What we’re looking for

Essential:

• Time-served engineering apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification
• Experience working within a multi-skilled maintenance environment
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
• Experience maintaining machinery within manufacturing, production, process or FMCG environments
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automated production lines
• Experience of preventative maintenance systems and planned maintenance activities
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environment
• Excellent communication and team-working skills

Desirable:

• Food, dairy, beverage or FMCG manufacturing experience
• Knowledge of filling and process technology
• Experience using CMMS maintenance systems
• Continuous improvement experience
