Job description

Position: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Poole
Shift Pattern: Rotation covering Days, Nights & Earlies (8 hour shifts)
Salary: 50,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Zest are working closely with a highly reputable and food manufacturer to find a hands-on, mechanically focused Maintenance Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team. Working across a diverse range of machinery, you'll play a key role in keeping the production lines running smoothly and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.

What You'll Be Doing
Carrying out reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and continuous improvement projects with a focus on mechanical systems (including hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment).
Ensuring all work meets statutory requirements and internal engineering standards.
Communicating effectively at shift handovers to maintain continuity of technical issues and enable informed decision-making.
Updating the engineering maintenance system with accurate job details, equipment history, and spare parts usage.
Supporting control, automation, and electrical systems when needed, but with a mechanical bias.
Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance.
Supporting and developing your own skills while assisting with training and mentoring colleagues.

What We're Looking For
A nationally recognised qualification in a mechanical discipline (NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds)
Strong practical knowledge of mechanical maintenance techniques in a manufacturing or process environment.
Ability to fault find and repair mechanical breakdowns quickly and effectively.
Knowledge of modern maintenance practices and continuous improvement.
Commitment to working safely and delivering high-quality results.
Good communication skills and a flexible, team-focused attitude.
