Job description

The Multi-Skilled Engineer will ensure all plant and equipment operate effectively and efficiently, liaising with relevant departments and stakeholders such as Health and Safety and Quality Assurance Teams to maintain food safety during preventative maintenance and breakdowns. This role requires flexibility in shift patterns (4 on, 4 off) and the ability to complete initial training and probation on day or night shifts. Reporting to: Maintenance Manager. Responsibilities include:

  1. Building strong relationships with Production Managers, Supervisors, and Line Leaders;
  2. Performing ppm tasks on various plant and machinery to high standards;
  3. Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs;
  4. Providing technical support to stakeholders;
  5. Developing and improving preventive and predictive maintenance routines;
  6. Supporting production and engineering teams in achieving targets and KPIs;
  7. Monitoring line and machine performance;
  8. Intervening promptly when performance deteriorates;
  9. Collaborating with equipment suppliers on new installations and modifications;
  10. Updating the maintenance management system (CMMS);
  11. Applying process awareness, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and resolution skills in a high-volume environment;
  12. Participating in learning, development, and continuous improvement initiatives, including off-shift training if required.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Trades qualification (ONC or equivalent) is desirable;
  • Experience in food production or similar environment is beneficial;
  • Practical experience with conveyors, packing machines, food processing equipment, robotics, or similar machinery is desirable;
  • Understanding of modern maintenance roles;
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
