Qualifications

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably meat or food production.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC control, refrigeration, and PTW systems.

  • Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.

Kepak Merthyr has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service;

As a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will play a vital role in providing effective maintenance support to our Production team, ensuring the equipment, machinery, and tools used in our factory are always running smoothly, maintaining seamless production and enhancing efficiency.

We are looking for someone with suitable qualifications and experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably with meat or food production experience. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC control, refrigeration, and PTW systems is desirable.

  • Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on a variety of production equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults efficiently
  • Support installation and commissioning of new machinery
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and hygiene standards
  • Collaborate with production, technical, and H&S teams to drive continuous improvement
  • Use CMMS to log maintenance activities and track performance metrics
  • Coach and support apprentices and production colleagues with technical guidance

Requirements :-

Essential :

  • Time served Multi Skilled apprenticeship (Electrical / Mechanical)
  • Experience with FMCG or Food Production environments
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Competence with PLC's and computer based systems
  • Excellent communication and team work abilities

Desirable :

  • Experience with domestic and industrial wiring, CHP / boiler systems
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with PLC programming structures
