Job description

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer - FMCG

  • Location: Harlow, Essex
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Salary: Up to 54,000 PA, Overtime + Benefits
  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday: 06:00 - 14:00 and 14:00 - 22:00 which is arranged on a rotating pattern

Join a global FMCG manufacturer as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. You'll support production lines through planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults and reduce downtime

The successful candidate will use your knowledge to maintain and improve the performance of the machines used in day-to-day manufacture.



Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical maintenance, fault-finding, and diagnostics across production equipment.
  • Complete day-to-day maintenance tasks and ensure adherence to service level agreements
  • Support electrical repairs and work collaboratively with multi-skilled engineers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects around equipment reliability, safety, and performance
  • Keep accurate maintenance logs, assist with spare parts inventory, and support audit readiness.
  • Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with production machinery
  • Excellent fault-finding skills on PLCs, drives, motors, panels, and industrial control systems
  • Good understanding of health & safety regulations and safe working practices
  • Proactive, adaptable, and calm under pressure - a true team player
  • FMCG or food industry experience is a strong advantage, but not essential


Qualifications / Requirements

  • Time-served or formally qualified in Mechanical Engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent).
  • knowledge of hydraulics/pneumatics
  • Electrical qualifications/experience - 18th edition required
  • Familiarity with PLC fault finding experience (Siemens/Allen Bradley)
  • Familiar with Excel/SAP (training provided)
