Overview
First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with a refrigeration business seeking a Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to support their factory plant equipment in Wrexham. This is a permanent role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform assigned maintenance tasks efficiently during your shift.
- Collaborate with team members on maintenance and hygiene of equipment and logistics support.
- Assist colleagues during breaks and absences to ensure duties are completed.
- Follow all work instructions, procedures, and job descriptions.
- Complete all Work Orders and Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks issued to your shift.
- Accurately complete and check all required paperwork.
- Work with other manufacturing functions to ensure smooth operations and prioritize tasks.
- Meet operational targets and support mutual objectives with other teams.
- Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and regulations, including GMP and food safety protocols.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues promptly.
- Order spare parts as needed and liaise with contractors or suppliers to resolve issues.
- Log all parts removed from stores correctly and initiate purchase orders when necessary.
- Report engineering downtime, quality issues, work completed, and other relevant information to the Engineering Manager.
- Identify potential problems early and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Raise work orders or highlight remedial works needed on-site to the Manager.
- Coordinate closely with Logistics and engineering teams, ensuring smooth handovers and information sharing.
- Instruct unskilled or semi-skilled personnel in basic equipment operations.
- Operate power tools and equipment safely, including drills, grinders, saws, and presses.
- Use ladders, steps, and walkways safely, including working with hot or cold equipment using appropriate PPE and safe systems.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in manufacturing, processing, warehousing, or cold storage industries.
- Electrical bias with relevant qualifications or apprenticeship completed.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
- Basic understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Windows).
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of PLC systems.
- Experience with hydraulic systems, temperature control, instrumentation.
- Welding skills.
- FLT/MEWP license.

- Salary: £38,300
- Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, with overtime opportunities
