About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join Rolls-Royce Submarines.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on manufacturing assets and all associated production equipment located in production facilities.

You’ll also perform a range of routine, reactive, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks across a broad range of manufacturing assets and production equipment across a plant, site or business, to ensure that manufacturing equipment is safe, available and capable for use when required.

What you will be doing

You will analyse equipment data to inform and implement the most effective approach towards maintenance.

  • Read and interpret machinery and component drawings, circuit/logic diagrams & schematics, maintenance manuals, and parts catalogues to enable maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Work alongside/support equipment OEM engineers as required
  • Consistently perform asset maintenance activities in order to ensure that equipment and facilities are safe and reliable to a high performance standard. Utilising precision diagnostic instruments during maintenance.
  • Utilise problem solving skills (such as Root cause analysis) and ability to make sound recommendations based on judgement, training and previous experience.

To thrive in this role, you will need to:

  • Have a time-served engineering apprenticeship in a multi-skilled, electrical/electronic or mechanical engineering discipline and NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience and qualifications.
  • Be a maintenance professional with high standards of electrical and mechanical knowledge with experience of fault diagnosis and rectification, carrying out planned maintenance activities and implementing improvements.
  • Have experience of working on electro-mechanical equipment, including knowledge of fault finding, diagnostics, interrogation and rectification of PLC's, multi-axes CNC machine tools and control systems.
  • Collaboration, flexibility and adaptability are key to meeting the ever-changing business requirements. A proactive thinker, with a positive attitude and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels is key.
  • Have a good level of computer literacy, training for specific systems will be provided.
