Are you:

  • Commutable to Bolton on a daily basis?

  • Qualified electrically, with a recognised certification or apprenticeship?

  • Experienced working in a static maintenance engineering role within manufacturing?

What you need:

  • A recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent)

  • Previous experience in a site-based maintenance engineering role

  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills, ideally including PLCs (B&R X20 system experience a bonus, not essential)

  • A background in maintaining machinery within a manufacturing environment – injection moulding experience is desirable, but not essential

  • A proactive and hands-on mindset, with the ability to work well independently and as part of a small team

  • Willingness to work rotating 2-week shifts (earlies and lates – no nights)

What you get in return:

  • Competitive salary circa £45,000 depending on experience

  • Voluntary overtime regularly available to enhance earnings

  • Nest pension scheme

  • Long-term progression opportunities as the business continues to grow

  • A stable, permanent role within a well-established manufacturing company

  • Regular team building incentives and a supportive working environment

  • The chance to be part of a company investing heavily in new machinery and technology over the next five years – making this an exciting time to join

The company and role:

This is a long-standing and secure manufacturing business based in Bolton, operating from a single site with a close-knit and experienced engineering team. With a trading history of over 100 years and a strong forward order book, they offer both security and variety in your day-to-day work.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining a wide range of production equipment, including injection moulding machines and associated systems, on a rotating early and late shift (no nights). The site runs B&R X20 PLCs, and you’ll be expected to fault-find and respond efficiently to breakdowns, while also playing a key role in planned maintenance and improvement work.

The company has committed to significant capital investment in plant and equipment over the next five years, meaning you’ll be involved in projects and upgrades as part of a modernisation strategy that will improve reliability, efficiency, and your own learning curve.
