Job description

We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the building and production facility; ensuring that routine inspections and repairs are carried out to the required standards and comply with health and safety regulations. This is a Permanent position with our client, who designs and manufactures premium bathroom fittings and door hardware from their premises in Digbeth, Birmingham, where they have been situated for over 200 years.

Salary: The job pays from GBP35K to GBP42.5K depending upon experience. Overtime will be required, including some weekend working (will vary depending on workload).

Job Purpose:

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out electrical and mechanical maintenance work, including electrical work to 18th edition.
  • Assisting in the installation of new machinery and equipment.
  • Maintaining and inspecting tools and equipment on the site.
  • Involved in upkeep and maintenance of the building and oversight of contractors.
  • Organising emergency repairs and completing general and small building repairs on site.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer Skills:

  • Electrically qualified to 18th Edition.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams.
  • PLC trained (preferred but not essential).
  • Basic plumbing, welding, carpentry experience (preferred but not essential).
  • Liaising with and supporting any contractors on site.

Other Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Forklift and Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) trained (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience of using an ERP system, Excel and Word very useful (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience of managing a small team would be advantageous.
  • Part of the Security team that ensures the building is checked, opened and locked up correctly and securely.
  • Being on call and able to attend site in the event of an emergency.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer Hours:

  • The hours of work are 7.00pm to 3.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.00am to 12.00pm on Friday.
  • Overtime will be required, including some weekend working (will vary depending on workload).
