Job summary

Innovate Recruitment Ltd is seeking multi-skilled maintenance contractors for FMCG/food & drink sites around Manchester. You will assess and repair faults on fast-moving lines, perform planned maintenance, and support shutdowns and installations across client sites. Travel to sites is required.

The role covers a range of assignments from single-day call-outs to multi-week projects, including nights and weekends during shutdowns, with safety and food-h hygiene controls always in place.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent
• NVQ Level 3 / HNC or similar in a mechanical or electrical discipline
• Proven multi-skilled maintenance experience in FMCG or food & drink manufacturing
• Strong fault-finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems
• Full UK driving licence and own transport
• Right to work in the UK

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults on high-speed production and packaging lines
• Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance to client schedules
• Supporting factory shutdowns, line changeovers and equipment installations
• Working with PLCs, HMIs, inverters, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics and conveyors
• Following site food safety, hygiene and allergen controls at all times
• Completing job reports and maintenance records accurately
• Working safely under each site’s permit-to-work and LOTO procedures

Innovate provides specialist engineering support to manufacturers across the FMCG and food & drink sectors. We’re growing our network of trusted contractors who can step in at short notice to cover breakdowns, shutdowns, planned maintenance and project work for a range of clients.

The role

You’ll join our pool of multi-skilled engineers, picking up assignments that suit your skills and availability. One week it might be fault-finding on a packaging line, the next supporting a planned shutdown or installing new equipment. Work ranges from single-day call-outs to multi-week projects, including nights and weekends during shutdown periods.

What we’re looking for

Essential

• Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent, with an NVQ Level 3 / HNC or similar in a mechanical or electrical discipline
• Proven multi-skilled maintenance experience in an FMCG or food & drink manufacturing environment
• Strong fault-finding ability across both mechanical and electrical systems
• Good understanding of food hygiene with relevant certs.
• Full UK driving licence and own transport
• Right to work in the UK
