Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a Multi Skilled Kitchen Fitter to join the Property Services team. Based in council housing stock, you will install and refurbish kitchens and carry out carpentry repairs in occupied homes.

A full UK driving licence and recognised carpentry qualification (or equivalent experience) are required. You will work weekdays on a full-time basis, with a company vehicle and a rota for out-of-hours cover with extra pay.

Qualifications

• Recognised carpentry qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds, or equivalent demonstrable experience
• Experienced kitchen fitter or multi skilled carpenter
• Proven track record of kitchen installations, repairs and maintenance in domestic properties
• Broad range of carpentry and plumbing skills
• Experience of using a PDA
• Flexible, proactive approach
• Commitment to health and safety
• Professional communication with residents, colleagues and contractors

Responsibilities

• Undertaking multi-trade tasks such as plumbing, basic plaster patching, tiling and vinyl flooring
• Identifying and ordering materials via a PDA

• Working independently and as part of a team to a high standard
• Providing out-of-hours support on a rota basis, with additional pay
