Job description

Multi-Skilled Engineer - Night Shift FMCG Manufacturing
Location: Diss, Suffolk
Salary: 50 - 55k
Shifts: 4 on / 4 off 12-hour night shifts

Compass Point Recruitment is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our client's fast-paced production site. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving all site machinery and systems to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, your role is key to the success of our 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities:

• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance to keep production running smoothly
• Responding to breakdowns, fault-finding, and ensuring minimal downtime
• Ensuring all work meets Health & Safety, Quality, and Food Safety standards
• Completing clear and accurate maintenance records and handovers
• Using the Pirana CMMS system to track and improve maintenance history
• Supporting continuous improvement across the site and engineering department
• Promoting excellent housekeeping and teamwork throughout the factory

Experience & Skills:

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (e.g. BTEC, ONC)
• A strong background in FMCG maintenance engineering, ideally within food production
• Confidence with fault finding, problem solving, and working under pressure
• A solid understanding of HACCP and ideally the 17th Edition Wiring Regs
• A great attitude, clear communication, and the drive to keep learning
