Role Description: We are seeking talented Engineers to join our dynamic team at our Long Sutton manufacturing site. This role operates on a night shift schedule, following a 2-2-3 shift pattern with 12-hour shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The purpose of this role is to maintain the site assets to achieve optimum operational efficiency, statutory and customer compliance whilst complying with all H&S requirements:

  • Effective & efficient maintenance of the site’s assets from a mechanical, electrical or process perspective.
  • Execute work schedule, PPM’s, breakdowns, capital and CI work streams.
  • Help the site to achieve optimal operational efficiency at lowest cost through the delivery of targets against the strategic objectives of the Group Supply function.
  • Work with the site Engineering, Team, Senior Leadership Team, Group Engineering and Projects Team to support the delivery of an agreed manufacturing vision and strategy.

Principal Responsibilities

Safety, Quality, Hygiene
  • Ensure safety for oneself and others during all duties.
  • Adhere strictly to all H&S policies, including Lock out and Tag, Permit to Work/Enter systems.
  • Maintain GMP standards.
  • Ensure all work conforms to safety and statutory requirements.
  • Complete and act on risk assessments.
  • Support a safety-conscious culture to reduce accidents and near misses.
  • Reduce customer complaints and wastage through effective maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity, and Quality standards.
Operations Management
  • Establish clear objectives with Area Coordinator to meet operational targets.
  • Record work related to PPM’s, breakdowns, repairs, and modifications; ensure follow-up.
  • Assist with training and support other departments in factory operations.
  • Identify personal training needs and plan for development.
Continuous Improvement
  • Promote and comply with 5S, GMP, and other CI tools to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and reduce waste.
  • Review performance regularly, implementing improvements.
Communication
  • Ensure clear and accurate communication during handovers and shift reports.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams daily.
  • Communicate with Engineering Stores to ensure availability of spares.
Role Requirements
  • Recognized engineering apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 or above, preferably multi-skilled.
  • Experience in FMCG manufacturing preferred.
  • Proficient in PC use.
  • Experience with CMMS, preferably SAP.
  • Experience in regulated environments and using Permit to Work systems.
  • Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
  • Advanced diagnostic skills in mechanical, electrical, PLC, and process control.
