What you'll bring to the teamAre you an Electrical Maintenance Engineer looking to apply your skills in a truly unique environment? At Chessington World of Adventures, you'll join a specialist engineering team responsible for maintaining some of the UK's most exciting rides and attractions. Using your expertise in fault finding, maintenance and diagnostics, you'll help keep complex electro-mechanical systems operating safely and reliably. In return, you'll enjoy a competitive salary, ongoing training and development, Merlin Annual Passes, free attraction tickets for family and friends, 40% off LEGO and the opportunity to build specialist expertise on engineering systems rarely found in traditional maintenance environments.
Join one of the UK's most unique engineering teams at Chessington World of Adventures, maintaining a diverse portfolio of rides and attractions in a safety-critical environment. As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias), you'll inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical systems across the resort. You'll troubleshoot electrical panels, control systems, sensors, drives and instrumentation, while also maintaining ride vehicles, pneumatic systems and mechanical equipment. Working alongside a skilled team of engineers, you'll resolve faults, complete planned maintenance, conduct safety-critical inspections and drive ride availability throughout the season. You'll also play a key role in major ride overhauls, refurbishments and upgrade projects, gaining hands-on experience with engineering systems rarely found in traditional maintenance environments. This role combines technical challenge, problem-solving and continuous development, offering the opportunity to build specialist expertise while working on some of the UK's most exciting attractions.
You'll work a structured pattern that includes early and late shifts to provide engineering cover across the attraction. Current shift times are:
Open days: 06:00-14:30 and 14:00-22:30. Closed days: 07:00-15:30 and 10:00 - 18:30 (subject to operational requirements). The rota is specifically designed to provide regular weekends off throughout the year, offering a much better work-life balance than many people expect from a theme park engineering role.
This role would suit engineers with experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, FMCG, automotive, rail, aerospace, marine, facilities, automation or other heavy engineering environments.
An ONC, NVQ Level 3 or BTEC equivalent gained through an engineering apprenticeship or college route. Post-apprenticeship / post-qualification engineering experience. Experience within a maintenance engineering environment. Experience working within manufacturing, automotive, rail, aerospace, marine, facilities engineering or similar technical environments would be advantageous.
Inspection experience would be advantageous. Full understanding of engineering-related statutory requirements, including COSHH. Experience of planned preventative maintenance systems and processes. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Strong problem-solving, diagnostic and fault-finding skills. Experience using technical manuals, risk assessments and engineering documentation.
Previous experience working within a theme park environment is not essential; engineering experience gained within other electrical, mechanical or technical environments is equally suitable. Experience with PLCs, control systems, motors, sensors, pneumatics or mechanical systems would be advantageous.
