Job summary

Gousto in Warrington is seeking a multi-skilled engineer to carry out planned and reactive maintenance across production lines. You will work within the Engineering Operations division, reporting to the Lead Multi Skilled Engineer, ensuring high productivity through well-maintained machinery.

The role requires apprenticeship training with electrical qualifications, PLC fault-finding experience, and a solid grounding in health and safety.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship trained and electrically qualified, minimum City & Guilds / ONC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering

Responsibilities

• Complete planned and reactive maintenance to support engineering operations and meet KPIs
• Use CMMS to plan maintenance and manage parts stock to maximise system availability
• Perform safety audits across all machinery and ensure safe operation
• Collaborate with operations teams to identify and solve issues, including continuous improvement work
• Represent engineering in site team huddles and share learnings across the network
• Apply Root Cause Analysis to remove repeat faults and share findings network-wide
• Assist with contractor control using Permit to Work and Lockout/Tagout procedures
• Coordinate with suppliers for correct specifications and parts
• Mentor Associate Engineers and Engineering Support Operatives

Job Description

Based within our Engineering Operations division and reporting directly to the Lead Multi Skilled Engineer, you will operate as part of the engineering team to complete planned preventative maintenance and breakdown support. You will play an active role in ensuring our production process achieves high levels of productivity by keeping machinery maintained across our production lines.

With a multi-skilled approach, you will support driving standards, embedding critical processes, and empowering team members to act as one team to achieve key operational results.

Core Responsibilities

• Completing all planned and reactive tasks necessary to support engineering operations to meet key performance indicators
• Utilising the Engineering activity planning system within CMMS to manage planned maintenance activities and stock control to maximise system availability
• Completing audits to ensure safety standards across all machines
• Working closely with operational teams to identify and resolve issues, either live or through continuous improvement work
• Representing the engineering function in site team huddles
• Applying Root Cause Analysis methodology to remove repeatable faults and sharing findings across the network
• Supporting contractor control management on site using Permit to Work and Lockout/Tagout processes
• Liaising with suppliers to ensure correct specifications and component procurement
• Mentoring and developing Associate Engineers and Engineering Support Operatives

Who You Are

• Apprenticeship trained and electrically qualified, ideally with a multi-skilled engineering background
• Qualified to a minimum of City & Guilds, ONC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an engineering discipline
• Experienced in PLC fault finding
• Holding a working knowledge of health and safety standards with the ability to maintain them in a live operational environment
• Possessing a Hazard & Risk Assessment qualification, isolation and check for dead capability, or an understanding of dynamic risk assessment
• Understanding Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement processes
• Familiar with FMCG, food manufacturing, or automation systems such as box erectors, pallet wrappers, simple air systems, conveying equipment, PLC control principles, batch/process line flow concepts, warehouse automation, and pick-by-light systems
• Proficient with MS Office and Google Docs suite tools

Qualifications

• City & Guilds, ONC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an Engineering discipline
• Electrical Qualification (Multi-skilled preferred)
• PUWER, LOLER, and Manual Handling training (desirable)
